2016 Marilyn Monroe Rouge
The Vineyards:
The grapes were sourced from the North Coast region of Lake and Mendocino counties. The quality of Zinfandel, Syrah
and Petite Sirah from Lake and Mendocino Counties rivals any growing area in California.
The Vintage:
2016 continued in a string of very strong vintages for us in Northern California. Very even ripening conditions throughout the summer with few heat spells coupled with no rain from berry set through harvest produced fruit of top quality.
Winemaker Notes:
Wine Maker: Bob Pepi
"The first vintage of our Marilyn Red Blend has an attractive brilliant ruby color. The nose has more than ample intensity and very nice
complexity, due in large part to the nice marriage of the three varietvies, Zinfandel, Syrah and Petite Sirah. Inviting aromas of
mature strawberries and dark cherries are complimented by hints of vanilla, caramel, mint and milk chocolate. The avors follow the
aromas with added notes of bright orange zest, purple meat plums, and sage. On the palate this wine has good balance and structure with ample weight, integrated tannins and a clean, bright finish."
